Volvo XC40 Achieves 31 MPG Highway Rating

The U.S. EPA has released the official fuel economy figures for the Volvo XC40. The new crossover has been certified with some respectable stats, including a 31 mpg highway rating for the XC40 T5 AWD.

In addition, the T5 AWD is rated at 23 mpg city, giving it a combined rating of 26 mpg. For comparison sake, this slots the XC40 in parallel with the Mercedes-Benz GLA250 4MATIC, but the Volvo is offering up 40 more horsepower.

The XC40 is besting most of its direct competitors when it comes to fuel sipping. A comparable BMW X1 and Audi Q3 offer slightly less miles per gallon. Much like the GLA, both other German competitors are offering less power output than the XC40.

Vehicle City MPG Highway MPG
XC40 T5 AWD 23 mpg 31 mpg
X1 xDrive28i 22 mpg 30 mpg
Q3 quattro 20 mpg 28 mpg
GLA250 4MATIC 23 mpg 31 mpg
