Volkswagen has become the first automaker to officially name a car with a hashtag. Today the company announced the #PinkBeetle, a limited edition offering of the Beetle. The limited run Beetle will be available in coupe or convertible for those wanting a Beetle that stands out just a little bit more than the normal.
Obviously the centerpiece of the #PinkBeetle is its Fresh Fuchsia Metallic paint scheme. It’s accented with black mirror caps and other exterior components. While the look is unique, the powertrain is the Beetle’s familiar 1.8-liter turbo TSI engine with 170 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque, funneled through a six-speed automatic.
Of course the interior of #PinkBeetle is also unique with, you guessed it, pink accents. Hashtag using hipsters will find the plaid The Pink Club seats appealing, no doubt. They’re accented with pink stitching, which swaps out the typical red stitch in this GTI-like cloth design.
#PinkBeetle will launch later this fall. Volkswagen says they’ll announce pricing as the pretty-in-pink Beetle gets closer to launch stage.
