Lexus has issued up its first official look at the next-generation Lexus NX. While the teaser itself doesn’t show us much, it does validate that earlier leaked images of the alleged NX were accurate.

The official photo shows off a less-than-revealing angle of the rear. It confirms a new wrap-around taillight treatment and that the Lexus logo is being swapped for Lexus text instead. The wrap-around lamp also noticed on the leaked images earlier this year. Though the leaked images showed the Lexus logo at the rear, versus text. Assuming the rest of the new NX hasn’t changed from the leaked images, we have a good sense of the new NX design.

Lexus isn’t taking a huge departure from the current NX design. Designers have essentially smoothed out the exterior and applied a few new styling elements, such as the wrap-around lamp. Expect the bigger changes to be inside, which was also leaked. Leaked interior photos showed a much more modern, clean interior design that features a large new touchscreen and digital gauge cluster.

The new Lexus NX will be built atop Toyota’s TNGA-K architecture, shared with the current Toyota RAV4. The parts sharing between the two will likely be fairly extensive, including the RAV4’s 2.5-liter inline-four. While some of the mechanics will be shared, expect the Lexus to offer an optional engine that is unique from the RAV4.

Lastly, the wait for all the official details is nearly over. Lexus has confirmed it will reveal the 2022 Lexus NX on June 12th.
