Lexus Releases "Man & Machine" Super Bowl Ad for LC 500

Lexus has unveiled a 60-second extended version of a spot it will air during the second quarter of the Super Bowl to showcase the new LC 500 and LC 500h performance coupes.

Titled “Man & Machine,” the commercial features artist Charles “Lil Buck” Riley performing street dance maneuvers known as “jookin,” accompanied by the track “Move Your Body” from Sia’s latest album and a voiceover recorded by actress Minnie Driver.

Produced by agency Team One and directed by Swedish film and music video director Jonas Åkerlund, the ad marks the debut of Lexus’ new global tagline, “Experience Amazing.”

The LC 500 coupe features a 471 hp 5.0-liter V8 engine mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission, while the LC 500h is equipped with a 3.5-liter V6 engine, hybrid transmission and a lithium-ion battery pack that produce 354 hp of combined output.

First introduced at the North American International Auto Show in January 2016, the LC 500 series is expected to arrive at dealerships in May, with pricing set to start at $90,000.

It is a little backwards that Lexus chose to release the extended version of a 30-second commercial that is set to air during the game.

Then again, this campaign seems to be more about gaining street cred than attracting buyers.
