Lexus Bringing UX Crossover To Production

Lexus has confirmed plans to produce the UX Concept as the brand’s compact crossover. That news is not particularly shocking given the popularity of compact crossovers globally, but still a solid confirmation is always nice from OEMs. The confirmation came from Lexus International vice president Yoshihiro Sawa, speaking to Motoring at the Geneva Motor Show.

“We are doing [UX],” Sawa told Motoring. “Please expect UX, it’s not so far away.”

Clearly the executive did not menace his words in stating the UX is coming to market. He went on to explain that Lexus feels this product is critical to success with younger buyers, which is probably an accurate statement.

It isn’t entirely clear if the UX will keep its name and outlandish exterior design in production form. It also isn’t known when the UX will begin production, but it sounds like it isn’t too far off. Once on the market, expect it to run with the likes of the Audi Q3 and BMW X3.

Lexus revealed the UX Concept at the Paris Motor Show last year.

Every time is see UX in my head it translates into 'user experience'.

On another note, you know you are getting old when all these concepts looks overdone and just odd. To my aging eyes, it looks like modern designers get paid by the line! Betcha it'll sell like hotcakes!!

I think they should offer the SUX below this in the lineup.

UX. The sound most people make when they see this.

Agreed. I guess this would fit in under the (also ugly) NX?
