The best-selling luxury SUV on the market is getting a revised appearance for the 2020 model year. Lexus has released images and information on the 2020 RX, confirming updates designed to retain its top-seller status.
Typical of automotive refreshes, this one is sticking to modifications of the plastic exterior bits. At first glance it is obvious the RX has a new look; the headlights are slimmer and smoother than today’s version. The lower fascia has also been revised to include new fog lamps, while the infamous Lexus spindle grille is as apparent as ever.
Lexus says the new look is rounded out with a lineup of new wheel designs.
Inside Lexus has made some meaningful modifications as well. All 2020 Lexus RX models will come standard with eight-inch touchscreen, the first time a touchscreen infotainment screen has been offered in a Lexus. Buyers will have the option of swapping the eight-inch unit with a 12.3-inch unit, it too will be a touchscreen.
For Lexus buyers who love their touchpad user interface, never worry, it is still found in the 2020 RX. The RX will also finally offer integration of Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
This refresh actually went slightly beyond skin-deep. Lexus says it has added light-weight stabilizer bars to the front and rear to aid in steering feel and body roll. The RX’s other suspension components have also been retuned.
Production of the 2020 Lexus RX will begin in the third-quarter of this year. Once production commences, RX 350L, 450 h, and 450 hL models will begin finding their way to Lexus showrooms.
