Automakers love to get creative when it comes to teasing new products, and Toyota is no exception. The Japanese automaker has released a teaser of the all-new 2020 Toyota Highlander crossover by way of a 3D artist.
Toyota asked augmented reality artist Michael Murphy to help them out with the teaser. Murphy manipulates lighting to basically play tricks on the human eye with his unique art forms.
Shown below, the 2020 Highlander teaser effectively takes a normal two-dimensional image and makes it into three-dimensions using 200 different pieces. The play on art shows an all-new Highlander that does not look significantly different from today’s version, which dates back to 2013.
The apparent insignificant design change comes as little surprise though. The Highlander is one of Toyota’s best-selling models, so it makes little sense to mess too much with success. That said, expect the front clip (largely not visible in the teaser) to more closely resemble the new RAV4.
Aside from this teaser, not a lot is known about the new Highlander. Expect to continue to see both gas and hybrid variations as well as updated technology features.
Toyota will reveal the all-new 2020 Highlander next week at the New York Auto Show.
