Subaru is nearing the launch of its first battery-electric model. The automaker is leveraging its tie-up with Toyota to build the 2023 Subaru Solterra. While we still don’t know a ton about the Solterra, new images confirm its Toyota roots are extensive.
Earlier this week Subaru dropped the teaser images in this article. They are our clearest look yet at the 2023 Solterra, which appears to share just about every body panel with the Toyota bz4x. Both have the same overall shape and even the body lines appears identical, at least from what’s visible in the teasers. Subaru does appear to have their own headlights and taillights, but the rest is a carbon copy from Toyota.
Even the interior of the Solterra appears nearly identical to the bz4x, including the rotary gear selector and large horizontal touchscreen display. There’s also a gauge cluster display that is set back further from the driver than usual, just like in the Toyota.
Aside from these photos, Subaru isn’t offering much detail on the Solterra. The company says to expect ample backseat and cargo space. Subsequently, Subaru has confirm this all-electric model will offer standard all-wheel drive, maintaining the company’s brand positioning.
The 2023 Subaru Solterra will launch in 2022. Expect further details as the vehicle nears launch.
