Nissan has done a really poor job of keeping the 2018 Leaf under wraps. Multiple leaks have shown us exactly what the car looks like, while now we even have specifics such as price. Autobytel originally published what appears to be official documents showing a base price of $29,990 for the new Leaf; meaning Nissan is undercutting both Tesla Model 3 and Chevrolet Bolt EV.
Perhaps it comes as no surprise that Autobytel has pulled the documents from their website, but AutoBlog snapped them and still has them live for viewing. In addition to showing a base price of $29,990 for the Leaf S, it also confirms the battery capacity as 40-kWh. At 40-kWh, the Leaf’s pack is coming in under both Model S and Bolt EV, but above today’s Leaf.
The documents also show the new Leaf will have 147 horsepower and 236 pound-feet of torque, a huge jump from today’s car, which has 107 horsepower and 187 pound-feet of torque.
Sadly the documents do not showcase an important technical detail: the Leaf’s range. At least Nissan has managed to keep one important detail under wraps until the car’s reveal next month.
