Exterior photos of the all-new Mercedes-Benz G Class have leaked, joining already-released interior photos to complete our view of the new icon. As expected, the leaked photos show off a G Class that requires one to squint to see the differences from today’s model.
Really the only visual change that can immediately be noticed is the G Class headlights. The iconic round lamps have been swapped out with new LED units. The updated technology provides a more modern bezel design.
The new lamps are resting next to a lightly modified grille that now houses the three-pointed star from other Mercedes models, which features the car’s radar system behind it to power semi-autonomous features the G Class will now offer. Other minor changes to the front fascia round out this “redesign.”
Mercedes is expected to offer up bigger changes under the G Wagon’s iconic skin, though. They’ve already confirmed a new independent front suspension, which should benefit drivers both on and off-road. Also of benefit will be a new nine-speed automatic transmission.
The interior, too, has seen more substantial updates. Mercedes officially revealed the new G Class interior a few weeks ago.
The all-new G Class will be revealed on Jan. 15th at the Detroit Auto Show.
