Mercedes-Benz is accelerating its transition to electric vehicles. The luxury brand says it will have an electrified variant of every model by 2025, including Maybach vehicles. As part of its announcement Mercedes is giving us a preview of its first Mercedes-Maybach EV model.

In typical Mercedes fashion, this teaser shows off a lot of predictability. There’s a two-tone paint job, iconic of Maybach badged Mercedes products. There’s also the Maybach emblem on the D-pillar. Note we said D-pillar, that’s because this first EV is expected to be a Maybach variant of the upcoming EQS SUV. There’s already the EQS sedan, but an SUV variant is also in the works.

It’s unclear how many design elements will be shared between the EQS sedan and SUV. Given the fact this teaser is showing off a wraparound taillight treatment like the sedan, it seems we can assume the two will share many design traits. That said, expect the Maybach variant of the EQS SUV to have unique design elements beyond those seen in the teaser.

Aside from the teaser shot, Mercedes isn’t offering any details on this future Mercedes-Maybach EV. Expect it to ride on a dedicated EV architecture with at least two electric motors, if the EQS sedan is any indicator.
