We’ve known for some time now that Mercedes is planning a Maybach SUV based on the all-new Mercedes-Benz GLS Class. Well, now we have our first official look at the new ultra-luxury SUV ahead of its November 21st reveal.
Mercedes turned to its own Facebook page to show off the above teaser image of the new Maybach product. The photo gives us a clear view of the SUV’s face, which has no major surprises in it. There’s a larger grille similar to that on the Maybach version of the S Class sedan. There’s also the iconic three-pointed star hood ornament and “Maybach” embossment at the top of the grille.
Expect the bulk of the changes to appear inside this beast, where Mercedes will unquestionably layer on a host of luxury features and touches to aid in justifying this thing’s rumored $200,000 price tag.
Under the hood, expect to find the GLS 580’s 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 with EQ Boost as the base powertrain. Rumors suggest Mercedes will ultimately offer a hotter version of the SUV in the future, which could e a full-fledged hybrid model.
Mercedes is slated to reveal the Mercedes-Maybach GLS later this week at the Guangzhou Auto Show. Stay tuned for further updates.
