How many vehicles can fit into one niche? The 4 door “coupe” SUV is now a thing after BMW created with the original X6. BMW found the profit was quite lucrative and thus created the smaller X4. Of course, Mercedes can not let their Munich enemy have all of the fun. Last year, the all-new GLE Coupe debuted. Now comes its follow up, the smaller GLC Coupe, which debuts at the New York International Auto Show.
Sharing everything from the A-pillar forward with the conventional GLC, the GLC Coupe incorporates 4 door styling from the B-pillar back in exchange for headroom and cargo room. Even the console is the same as with the normal GLC.
Basically all powertrains and mechanicals are the same as the normal GLC, so expect an AMG soon.
Mercedes says the the GLC Coupe will be available for sale early next year.
With BMW debuting an X2 is Paris this year, will Mercedes follow it up with a GLA Coupe? We shall see…
