Jaguar Land Rover has released a preview image of the all-new Range Rover Velar, the newest addition to its lineup of sport utility vehicles.
Set to slot between the Evoque and Range Rover Sport, the Velar takes it name from the Latin ‘velare’ for veil or cover, a name used for Range Rover prototypes in the 1960s.
While very few details are known about the new SUV, Land Rover Chief Design Officer Gerry McGovern says “We call the Velar the avant-garde Range Rover. It brings a new dimension of glamour, modernity and elegance to the brand. The Range Rover Velar changes everything.”
The Velar will be manufactured at the company’s factory in Solihull, England and will reportedly feature “elegant simplicity, a visually reductive approach and all-new consumer technologies.”
Set to make its world premier on March 1, the Velar will debut in the U.S. in April at the New York International Auto Show.
