The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is investigating as many as 39,000 late-model Land Rover SUVs and Jaguar XF sedans following reports of rollaways that have resulted in injuries.
The NHTSA’s Office of Defect Investigation (ODI) indicates that it has been notified of seven incidents involving the 2012-2014 mode year Land Rover Evoque and the 2013 model year Jaguar XF sedan. Four consumers claim to have been injured when the driver’s side door was open, while another driver is said to have been pinned between the vehicle and a garage wall.
In each of the injury reports, the transmissions of the vehicles were in park but none of the cars had their parking brakes engaged.
According to the NHTSA website, the OPI initiated the preliminary evaluation December 16.
