Kia has announced plans to reveal a concept version of the upcoming Niro EV at this years Consumer Electronics Show (CES). Of course, with the announcement Kia has thrown out a few teaser shots of the concept, which shows a nuanced Niro design for the battery-powered version.
Thus far Kia isn’t saying much about the Niro EV Concept, saying only that it has a highly efficient battery powertrain and some crazy new human-machine interface.
What can be deduced from the photos is that the Niro EV Concept is sporting a different look than the Niro currently found on Kia lots. The fascia has been swapped out with one that looks more aggressive, which is found under all-new headlamps. In general, the shadowy shots show an interesting looking design, but it is unclear if the pizzazz will translate to production.
The production version of the Niro EV is expected to be revealed later this year. Despite Kia’s fluff regarding the concept’s electric powertrain, the production version is expected to offer the same powertrain already found in the Hyundai Ioniq EV, which packs a 28-kWh battery pack.
