Kia has announced plans to reveal the refreshed 2022 Kia Stinger next week. Ahead of the reveal the automaker has issued up our first official look at the revised Stinger. Along with the teaser, Kia is promising more power and technology with the 2022 version.
A refreshed version of the Stinger is already being sold as 2021 models in Europe and South Korea. The teaser of the American version appears to closely resemble the global refresh, which isn’t shocking. Expect a revised front fascia that includes more modern LED headlights and a slightly more aggressive overall graphic.
Changes inside the 2022 Stinger are expected to be modest as well. Expect a new 10.25-inch touchscreen display featuring an improved infotainment system. A new seven-inch LCD will be found in the gauge cluster, assuming the global model’s traits trickle over to the U.S. Aside from those two technical items, expect revised trim options and some overall refinement versus today’s car.
Given Kia has confirmed the new Stinger will have “more power,” it goes without saying there will be changes under the hood. Kia is expected to replace the turbocharged 2.0-liter base engine with the brand’s newer turbo 2.5-liter inline-four. This engine could hammer out north of 300 horsepower, a significant improvement over the 2.0’s 255 horsepower.
The Stinger’s twin-turbocharged 3.3-liter V-6 is expected to remain in the lineup. It isn’t clear if it will see an updates from today’s 365 horsepower rating. There’s likely plenty of power left in this mill, it’s just a question of wether or not Kia will unlock it with this refresh.
The 2022 Kia Stinger will be revealed on March 16th. Check back then for all the details.
