While we’ve seen several concept iterations of the 2020 Kia Telluride, the production version is still mysterious. Kia is trying to uncover some of mystery in a new teaser video that shows off some of the Telluride’s production bits.
The video, which features interviews with Telluride’s design team, explains how the directive for the design team was “big, bold and boxy.” Designers apparently wanted to tap the traditional SUV appearance, but modernize it with attributes such as L-shaped taillights and a bold grille up front.
Unfortunately, there’s virtually no overall shots of the Telluride in the video. Instead, viewers see several closeups of both the exterior and interior. Throughout the closeups designers describe the Telluride as a premium vehicle, almost suggesting the Telluride will be the brand’s flagship vehicle; both from a price standpoint and positioning.
Thanks to the Telluride concepts and the new 2020 Hyundai Palisade, we know quite a bit about the 2020 Telluride. Like its Palisade cousin, it will ride on an all-new platform and likely be powered by the same 3.8-liter V-6 found under the hood of the Palisade.
Expect to see the 2020 Kia Telluride in its entirety early next month at the Detroit Auto Show. It is slated to arrive in Kia dealerships in the spring.
