Jaguar has revealed the 2018 XJ with a few changes, including a more powerful XJR. The moves come despite recent reports that Jaguar may discontinue the large sedan from its lineup.
Starting with the new XJR575, which has more power from the same supercharged 5.0-liter V-8. The engine will now be rated at 567 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. That’s enough power to move this big sedan from zero to 60 mph in about 4.2 seconds, putting the car in Mercedes-AMG S65 territory. BMW’s 760Li still has a slight edge on the Jag, though.
Buyers will be able to get the new XJR575 trim level on both the short and long wheelbase versions of the XJ. That said, they will only have Velocity Blue and Satin Corris Grey as exterior colors to select from.
Those two exterior colors are covering a slightly modified front bumper and hood from today’s XJR. New 20-inch Farallon black wheels round out the new XJR575 exterior look, while need badging can be found inside as well.
Aside from the XJR575, all XJ models are gaining a few new features for 2018 as well. Jaguar has swapped out the infotainment display with a new, larger 10-inch touchscreen that features the brand’s latest infotainment software. The new screen is teaming up with 4G LTE WiFi within the car and a host of new active safety features found on other recent Jaguar products.
