Leaked: Honda Civic Type R Images

Photos of the production version of the hot Honda Civic Type R have leaked out. As expected, the car looks nearly identical to the Type R Prototype Honda revealed at the Paris Motor Show last year, which is a great thing.

Based on the Civic Hatchback, the new Type R shares its radical sheetmetal, with further amplification. The Type R is adding a more sculpted hood with hood scoop and more aggressive lower air dam in front. In back the car is highlighted with a huge wing spoiler and three-hole exhaust outlet.

Around the entire car Honda has modified the aerodynamics of the Civic for increased downforce. The added downforce will likely be necessary given the car is reportedly going to have in-excess of 320 horsepower from Honda’s 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder. That power is allegedly going to continue heading to the front axle.

Aside from what the Type R looks like now, we only know officially that the car will be offered exclusively with a six-speed manual transmission. The rest of the technical details will have to wait until the car’s reveal early next week at the Geneva Motor Show.

Oh, and one other thing we know for sure: this Civic Type R is coming to the United States.

I like the new Civic, but this is a bit extroverted and gaudy what they've done to it as far as appearance.
