The crossover market is exploding worldwide (if you have not noticed) and especially in China, the world’s largest market. Enter the Acura CDX, the luxury brand’s first sub-compact CUV.
Based upon the Honda HR-V/Vezel and XR-V (Honda has two different vehicles for each Chinese joint venture), Acura is aiming the CDX right for the Buick Encore, Audi Q2, and others. It will also be the first Acura produced in China.
The body is the first all-new production vehicle with Acura’s new styling after ditching the squid beak. The facelifted MDX was the first vehicle to receive the new design at last month’s NYIAS.
Power will likely come from a 1.5L I4 turbo, but not much else is known.
There is no word on if the vehicle will make it to North America, but it would be shortsighted not too.
The CDX will make its formal debut at the Beijing Auto Show in the coming days. It will be produced by GAC Honda.
