The 2022 Honda Civic is expected to be revealed any day. That immanency isn’t preventing additional details from leaking out though. Thanks to filing with the state of California, the 2022 Civic’s engines have been confirmed.

According to a filing with the California Air Resources Board (CARB), the 2022 Civic will have some familiar engines. The filing shows both a turbocharged 1.5-liter and 2.0-liter option. Those should sound familiar, since both options are found in today’s Civic. Today the 1.5-liter and 2.0-liter offer 174 and 158 horsepower, respectively. While the filing confirms engines of the same displacement, it does not confirm final power ratings.

The filing also confirms both engines will be mated exclusively to a CVT automatic transmission. The only news here is that there is no manual option, which does exist on today’s Civic.

At this point there isn’t much left for the imagination when it comes to the 2022 Civic. Honda previewed the 11th generation car recently with the Honda Civic Prototype. While called a “prototype,” it is effectively the production version of the car. At the time of the prototype reveal Honda stated the production car would be revealed in the first quarter. Given the first quarter ends with this month, it seems the reveal is imminent.
