It’s official: the Hummer name is returning under the GMC brand. GMC has issued our first image and corresponding details of the new Hummer electric-vehicle, which will be previewed in a commercial during the Super Bowl. Along with the teaser shot, GMC is also laying down some details of the new truck, including the fact it will have 1,000 horsepower.
GMC says the Hummer EV pickup truck will not only have 1,000 horsepower, but also 11,500 pound-feet of torque. That’s going to be enough power to send this beastly EV from zero to 60 mph in less than 3.0 seconds, which is not uncommon from high-powered EVs.
“GMC builds premium and capable trucks and SUVs and the GMC HUMMER EV takes this to new heights,” said Duncan Aldred, vice president of Global Buick and GMC. “We are excited to debut our revolutionary zero-emissions truck during the biggest night in TV advertising.”
The reincarnated Hummer will be fully revealed on May 20th, according to GMC. In the meantime, stay tuned during the second quarter of Sunday’s Super Bowl game for a sneak peak. The spot is called “Quiet Revolution” and highlights the “super truck” capabilities of this new Hummer.
