General Motors is adding yet another Hummer model to its battery-electric portfolio. Using GMC as a conduit to reviving the Hummer brand, GM is debuting the 2024 GMC Hummer EV SUV. From a specifications perspective, this one is nearly identical to the Hummer EV.

“The GMC HUMMER EVs were envisioned to be the most capable and compelling electric supertrucks ever,” said Duncan Aldred, global vice president of Buick and GMC. “The new HUMMER EV SUV is the next chapter, which will offer many options for customers to tailor the truck to their lifestyles, while continuing to encourage them to forge new paths with zero emissions.”

Like the Hummer EV truck, the SUV is built atop GM’s Ultium battery system. The SUV will feature up to 20 battery modules, offering at least 300 miles of range on certain trim levels. GM is also claiming the Hummer EV SUV will feature up to 830 horsepower and 11,500 pound-feet of torque. This much power will send the big Hummer from zero to 60 mph in less than 3.5 seconds thanks to its Watts To Freedom mode.

Many of the gadgets from the truck are also finding their way over to the SUV. For example, every SUV will feature GM’s SuperCruise technology. Removable roof panels found on the truck are also found on the SUV, while he SUV does add a full-size spare tire mounted on the rear for appearance purposes.

Much like the truck, most prospective buyers are going to have to wait awhile for the SUV. GM is saying deliveries of the EV SUV Edition 1 will not commence until spring 2023. Less expensive versions will continue to hit the market from early 2023 through spring 2024. Pricing will range from $79,995 to $110,595.
