Our first official look at the refreshed GMC Terrain Denali has inadvertently leaked out. An image on one of GM’s consumer websites is showing off the crossover, confirming its revised appearance.
A refreshed Terrain was originally supposed to launch for the 2021 model year. In fact, GMC even revealed the refreshed Terrain AT4 last year. Then COVID-19 happened, causing GM to delay several refreshes planned for the 2021 model year, including the Terrain. Since the delay GM has been mum about any further details surrounding the refreshed Terrain.
The keen folks over at GM Authority have spotted the 2022 Terrain Denali in a photo on GM’s Reward Card website. As expected, the updates are fairly modest, but still noticeable. GMC has swapped out the C-clamp style headlights for more modern units, while the grille appears to have more shaping than today’s Denali. Aside from that, the 2022 version is fairly business-as-usual to today’s.
We’re not expecting major changes to the interior of the mechanics of the 2022 Terrain. Expect to see the same turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder base engine, while a revised 2.0-liter will be optional. The new 2.0-liter will likely carry less power than the one previously offered in the Equinox and Terrain. GM is in the process of phasing out applications of its old LTG 2.0-liter in favor of the newer, more efficient LSY.
Given 2022 models will start product in a few months, expect to hear more on the refreshed 2022 GMC Terrain in the near future.
