Next Corvette set for July Reveal

We all knew it was coming, but now it is official. Chevrolet has confirmed it will reveal the eight-generation Corvette on July 18th. Along with confirming the reveal date, GM has also dropped official photos of the car, confirming it will be a mid-engine car.

GM’s official statement does not mention the car’s mid-engine layout, but spy photos and the official photos make it obvious with the car’s dramatic proportions. Code named “Zora” after the Corvette’s first chief engineer, Zora Arkus-Duntov, the C8 will be the first-ever mid-engine Corvette.

Arkus-Duntov–at the time–was obsessed with idea of a mid-engine car. Despite his attempts, GM never executed a mid-engine Corvette. Apparently GM has decided it is time to honor Arkus-Duntov’s contribution to Corvette and take the car to the next level in terms of performance.

Expect further details on the next-generation Chevrolet Corvette in July during the car’s reveal. We also won’t be surprised if additional details leak out now that the cat is officially out of the bag.

Interesting on the pricing. What really makes a Corvette a Corvette, IMO, is world-class performance at a much lower price. A 1000 hp, hybrid hyper Corvette that listed for $200K or less would totally fulfill that mission -- nothing with that kind of power even comes close to that price. Given the $65K base price -- and GM's expertise with electrified powertrains -- that doesn't seem impossible.
I’m excited for the racing version and hopping it’s as competitive as the current car out of the box.
I'm so excited for this, I can't remember the last time I was this excited about something!!! :hyper:
