It’s hard to believe, but the mid-engine Chevrolet Corvette has been around for two years. In typical Corvette fashion, Chevrolet is keeping the car fresh with new variants. This variant sounds really, really interesting.

Chevrolet took to YouTube this week to offer up a 24 second clip entitled “Crank it up.” The clip ultimately confirms the upcoming 2023 Corvette Z06. The 2023 Z06 will mark the first variant of the C8 and the first Z06 since the 2019 model year. Much like the last Z06, this one sounds down right nasty and we’re giddy with excitement.

The teaser offers us nothing in terms of visual clues as to the Z06’s appearance, but it does offer us some incite with its intoxicating sound. It is clearly a V-8 engine and it is clearly a V-8 that can rev will beyond the typical 6,000 rpm mark of the traditional Chevy small block V-8.

Rumor has it this Z06 will be powered by a new flat-plane crank V-8 engine, likely a 5.5-liter. This would be a beefed up version of the same engine that powers the C8.R race car. Expect power figures to be north of 600 horsepower with the engine having an ability to rev north of 8,000 rpm. It is worth mentioning that flat-plane V-8 not only rev faster, but tend to have a higher-pitched note, something that’s also notable in the teaser clip.

Expect to hear additional information on the Corvette Z06 by the end of the year. It is expected to go into production sometime in 2022 with a price tag around $90,000.
