The Chevrolet Colorado may be nearing the end of its lifecycle, but Chevy is still giving it some upgrades. For 2022 model year the Colorado Trail Boss will launch, serving as a mid-point between the Z71 and ZR2 off-road trim levels.

Unlike Z71 and ZR2, the Trail Boss is not a trim level. Buyers of the Colorado LT or Z71 can check the Trail Boss option box. The package adds a one-inch suspension leveling kit, two more skid plates, 17-inch ZR2-like wheels and red exterior accents. The Trail Boss models also have an updated front fascia, which deletes the lower air dam.

Aside from the changes outlined above, the 2022 Colorado remains the same as the 2021 model. This is largely because of the fact a redesigned version is just around the corner. The all-new Colorado is expected to appear sometime in 2022 as a 2023 model. In the meantime, this Trail Boss treatment will serve as something new for Colorado buyers who are focused on off-roading, but don’t want to splurge for the ZR2.

The 2022 Chevrolet Colorado will begin arriving in dealerships this fall. Expect pricing details on the Trail Boss package closer to launch.
