Cadillac surprised racing fans this weekend during the Rolex 24 at Daytona. The luxury brand formally revealed the 2022 CT4-V and CT5-V Blackwing cars, two of Cadillac’s new track-ready sedans.
The Blackwing cars have hardly been a secret. Cadillac has been teasing them for several months now, but this is the first time we’ve seen them devoid of camo. Both sedans are fairly predictable in terms of exterior appearance. There’s a more aggressive front bumper treatment on both cars, while the forged-magnesium wheels also offer a differentiation from the more pedestrian V-Series variants. Aside from those two small traits, the Blackwing cars look much like the other V-Series iterations.
Aside from the view above, Cadillac has offered no additional official views. The video teaser also reiterated that both sedans will offer an optional six-speed manual gearbox, the “world’s fastest reacting suspension” and will be the most track-capable Cadillac’s ever.
Recently, we obtained the order guides for both Blackwing sedans. The order guides suggested the CT4-V Blackwing will be powered by a twin-turbo V-6, while the CT5-V Blackwing will be motivated by a supercharged Small Block V-8. Essentially, the CT4-V and CT5-V Blackwing cars will carry on the tradition of their ATS-V and CTS-V predecessors. This also means the two sedans will carry the torch as the range-topping offerings within the Cadillac V-Series portfolio.
Cadillac is set to reveal the Blackwing cars in full on February 1st via a live webcast. At the conclusion of the webcast Cadillac will open up reservations for the sedans.
