It’s hard to believe one can order a 2023 model vehicle soon, but it’s true in the case of the Cadillac Lyriq. Cadillac’s first battery-electric SUV will commence production soon, with reservations starting on September 18th.

In typical GM fashion, the order guide for the 2023 Lyriq has already been published on the company’s fleet website. The order guide validates the lip service Cadillac has offered with the Lyriq: it comes stocked full of standard content. In fact, by GM standards this order guide is quite unique in the lack of options buyers have to select.

Lyriq buyers literally have three decisions to make with their vehicle. They can select between two wheel designs; a 20-inch or 22-inch option. They can also select between Stellar Black or Satin Steel exterior colors. Lastly, each exterior color can be matched with a Noir or Sky Cool Gray interior palette. Buyers wanting more choices in color will have to look elsewhere.

Literally everything else, from Cadillac’s Super Cruise driver assist system to a 33-inch curved glass display is standard on the Lyriq. Even the company’s premium 19-speaker AKG sound system is standard on all Lyriq’s.

Perhaps the biggest headwind against the Lyriq’s simple packaging is the fact it is rear-wheel drive only. There is no all-wheel drive option at launch, something we suspect Cadillac will remedy in due time. In the meantime, buyers will have to make do with a single electric motor that generates an estimated 340 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque.

The 2023 Cadillac Lyriq will be priced at $59,990 after destination charges. Given the lengthy standard feature list and the lack of options, the real-world price shouldn’t deviate much from that figure. Interested buyers can reserve a Lyriq on Cadillac’s website on Sept. 18th starting at 4:00 p.m. EDT.
