At the 2015 North American Auto Show, Buick debuted their new design language with the beautiful Avenir Concept. This design language has now been fully applied to vehicles like the third-generation LaCrosse.
But what about the Avenir? If you thought the nameplate was dead, your dreams are back!
New spy shots out of China confirm the Avenir name is going into production by the end of this year, less than two years after we saw the concept.

We will give you a minute…
Did you see it yet?
Wow! Disappointed? Turns out GM decided to just stick the “Avenir” name on the top-of-the-line trim for the third-generation Buick GL8 minivan!
Now, you might think this is a cruel joke by us, but we think the crueler joke is by GM. Instead of producing a beautiful, modern real-wheel-drive concept we originally saw with the concept, we get a minivan who’s platform dates back to 1996! Yes, a platform that is as old as college juniors!
GM once again disappoints us by not producing a terrific concept, which unfortunately is more common for the company than actually putting them into production.
As for this Avenir, we think China should keep it while we continue to hope that GM will finally produce a vehicle true to the name.
