New Toyota Land Cruiser, C-HR Concept Set For Frankfurt

Toyota will leverage the Frankfurt Motor Show next month to debut two new SUVs. The company has confirmed plans to reveal an all-new Land Cruiser, the company's flagship SUV, and a concept based on the C-HR subcompact crossover.

A new Land Cruiser has been expected from some time now. The current generation SUV dates back to about 2008. Toyota has been very tight-lipped about details of the new full-size SUV, but one can be assured it will be based on a body-on-frame chassis as its legacy dictates. Toyota did say in a press release, “The new Land Cruiser will take you wherever you want to go. And bring you back.”

Additionally, Toyota has released a teaser photo of what it calls the C-HR Hy-Power Concept. Based on the shot, it appears it will be a performance variant of the production C-HR crossover that is powered by a hybrid powertrain.

Toyota says the C-HR Hy-Power will “...emphasize C-HR’s emotional and powerful look, while hinting at future expansion of Toyota’s hybrid powertrain line up within its core models.”

So, apparently this concept will give us a glimpse at some future C-HR trim levels and perhaps a future hybrid powertrain Toyota will roll out in other models.

We'll all know more about both the new Land Cruiser and the C-HR Hy-Power on September 12th, when Toyota takes the sheet off both at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

The Prado has gone through so many facelifts at this point, they really need a new generation.
