2018 Jaguar XJ Revealed With New Performance Model

Jaguar has revealed the 2018 XJ with a few changes, including a more powerful XJR. The moves come despite recent reports that Jaguar may discontinue the large sedan from its lineup.

Starting with the new XJR575, which has more power from the same supercharged 5.0-liter V-8. The engine will now be rated at 567 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. That's enough power to move this big sedan from zero to 60 mph in about 4.2 seconds, putting the car in Mercedes-AMG S65 territory. BMW's 760Li still has a slight edge on the Jag, though.

Buyers will be able to get the new XJR575 trim level on both the short and long wheelbase versions of the XJ. That said, they will only have Velocity Blue and Satin Corris Grey as exterior colors to select from.

Those two exterior colors are covering a slightly modified front bumper and hood from today's XJR. New 20-inch Farallon black wheels round out the new XJR575 exterior look, while need badging can be found inside as well.

Aside from the XJR575, all XJ models are gaining a few new features for 2018 as well. Jaguar has swapped out the infotainment display with a new, larger 10-inch touchscreen that features the brand's latest infotainment software. The new screen is teaming up with 4G LTE WiFi within the car and a host of new active safety features found on other recent Jaguar products.

It appears they've stayed with the horrible black panel on the c-pillar as a styling feature. It's a lovely looking car with that very odd blemish.

I remember asking about that a few years ago at the NY Auto Show and the Jag rep said it was to make it look like the back window wrapped around.

I wish there was an option to delete it.

    There is...order it in black.

Was hoping for a little more styling change, but hopefully this comes with some new interior choices as well. The cabernet Autobiography interior offered in the UK is gorgeous.

It needs an all-new version badly...

It's a great looking vehicle. Jaguar is pretty slow with its redesigns....even slower than Cadillac or Volvo.

I think the C-pillar setup is supposed to make it look more like a coupe. To me, it just adds length to the sedan. Otherwise, I love the styling.
