Jaguar has announced yet another iteration of the brand's Ingenium 2.0-liter inline-four engine. The latest version will find its way into the XE, XF and F-Pace products and feature higher output than the existing 2.0-liter engine options.

The latest variant of this engine will generate 296 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque thanks to twin-scroll turbochargers. This yields a sizable increase in power over today's 2.0-liter engine option, which features around 247 horsepower in most of Jaguar's current applications.

"We continue to broaden the range of our Ingenium engine family, giving customers more choice than ever. Our new 300PS petrol engine provides the performance synonymous with Jaguar, while delivering enhanced fuel economy, thanks to its state-of-the-art exhaust technology and pioneering valve train design", commented the brand's Executive Director for Product Engineering, Nick Rogers.

Jaguar announced the 296 horsepower engine as part of a series of small updates to the XE, XF and F-Pace as part of the 2018 model year.

    296 out of a 2.0 isn't bad.

Wondering if this will expand to include a 450 hp, 3-litre straight six. That's an iconic engine layout for Jaguar -- far more in keeping with the marque than the current V8-with-two cylinders blocked off V6!

I hate 4 bangers...never want to own one. Regarding the F Type, I hope an R variant becomes available. That'd be nice.
