It’s been well-known the Lincoln Navigator will get some updates for 2022. Lincoln is finally ready to talk about said changes, teasing the refreshed 2022 Navigator in a new video posted online. The full deal will be revealed online on August 18th.
Posted on Twitter, the short video clip shows off the front fascia of the Navigator. Non-enthusiasts may be hard-pressed to tell any differences from the current Navigator, but there are some minor changes. The most notable is a set of new headlights that appear more detailed with new LED accents. The lower fascia likely has some changes as well, though the grille appears carryover from today’s Navi.
This teaser is likely setting expectations for the rest of this refresh. Expect minor changes to the rear fascia, including new taillamps. Aside from that, Lincoln isn’t expected to make any seismic exterior design changes.
Inside, Lincoln is likely slotting in a larger touchscreen infotainment display. That display will be upgraded to SYNC 4, which is the latest and greatest infotainment software at Ford. Some additional interior design changes and new features, including Lincoln’s new ActiveGlide semi-autonomous driving system, are also likely.
On the powertrain front there is some speculation Ford’s PowerBoost hybrid found in the F-150 will make its way to the Navigator. The twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V-6 and electric motor generate 430 horsepower and 570 pound-feet of torque in the F-150. What will be interesting to see is if Ford converts this hybrid to a plug-in hybrid option for the Navigator, something they have done for both the Aviator and Corsair Grand Touring models. Their Ford counterparts are just standard hybrids.
Nonetheless, we won’t have to speculate much longer. The 2022 Lincoln Navigator will bow on August 18th.
