Apparently the Lincoln MKT crossover is hanging around for a little longer than planned. Lincoln’s three-row entry was slated to die off after the 2015 model year, however Ford Motor Company’s 2017 fleet order guide shows a new, slightly modified 2017 Lincoln MKT. The fleet guide confirms recent speculation that the MKT and Ford Flex would hang around a little while longer.
According to the fleet guide, the 2017 MKT is receiving a (very) mild update in the form of a new grille. Basically Lincoln is swapping out the vertical slats in the current MKT grille in favor of horizontal ones that match the brand’s other, newer products. Additionally, the fleet guide shows the 2017 MKT featuring SYNC 3, Ford’s latest infotainment system.
Anyone who’s spent time in Manhattan knows that the MKT is a popular product for livery and fleet customers, which is likely why Lincoln has decided to keep it around a little longer. Fleet customers can opt between three engine choices, ranging from a 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder to the 365 horsepower 3.5-liter Ecoboost V-6. All engines are mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.
Oddly enough there has not been a 2016 MKT, so we can only speculate that Lincoln is just skipping the 2016 and going straight for the 2017 model.
