Ford Teases Next Shelby GT500; Will Have Over 700 HP

Ford was not quite finished with teasers at the North American International Auto Show. Tonight, Ford debuted a teaser video for the next Shelby GT500.

Not much was shown on the video, but Ford confirmed it will be available in 2019 with a projected 700 hp+.

Recent speculation on the engine shows that the next GT500 will carry the current GT350’s 5.2L V8, but supercharged.

The current non-supercharged 5.2L makes 526 hp while the last GT500 had 662 hp. With over 700 hp, it will be Ford most powerful production vehicle ever.

Look for more info on the next GT500 to break lose in the coming months.

    Dear GM,

Please assure me quietly that you do quite intend for the ZR1's 755 horsepower LT5 V8 to be utilized by other models that currently utilize the LT4.

    Thanks a bunch,

*yawn* 700+ hp was so 2017. Wake me up when ther is a 1000hp Mustang,Vette or Challenger to buy.

This pretty much warrants a power upgrade for the GT. It can't be overpowered by its little brother.
