On Wednesday, Ford Motor Co. announced that it is recalling 1.9 million vehicles that are equipped with defective passenger-side airbag inflators supplied to the company by Takata Corp.
The recall affects 1,896,443 vehicles in the U.S., 1,304 units in Canada and one car in Mexico. Included in the recall are the 2007-10 Edge and Lincoln MKX, 2006-11 Fusion, Mercury Milan, Lincoln MKZ and Zephyr, 2005-11 Mustang and the 2007-11 Ranger.
Ford indicated that it is not aware of any injuries attributed to the defective airbag inflators.
Replacements of the inflators will be conducted by dealers at no charge to customers.
