Ford Freestyle Returns...Yes, Really

Ford India has drawn from the nameplate well, once again, and resurrected the Ford Freestyle nameplate for their new crossover version of the Ford Figo (or Ka depending on the market). The lifted hatch market is booming in markets like Brazil and India with new entries debuting also in Europe.

Sharing the body of the Figo, but with a different face, the Freestyle will be offered globally in emerging markets and mostly like Europe as well, but likely under the Ka “Active” scheme used most recently on the all-new Fiesta. The new Freestyle will also coincide with a facelift for the Figo and Ka.

The Freestyle gains a lifted SUV like styling features like skid pad and plastic side molding to perceive it as a more rugged crossover.

Two engines will be made available, at least for the Indian market, including the three cylinder 1.2L gasoline engine and the 1.5L diesel.

The Freestyle will compete against the likes of the Hyundai HB20x and the Toyota Etios Cross when it goes on sale later this year.
