In what would make it the first American-made truck sold by an automaker and not in the grey market, Ford announced today that the 2017 Ford Raptor will soon make its way to the Gobi.

The Raptor will be shown at the Beijing Auto Show, which starts to day. It furthers Ford’s commitment to the world’s largest market and adds yet another import to the lineup. Other Ford vehicles imported into China include the Mustang, Explorer, Focus ST, Fiesta ST, and all Lincolns. The Raptor will also be joined by the limited production Ford GT.

The Chinese-spec Raptor will be the same as the NA-market with the new 3.5L V6 EcoBoost and 4WD.

With grey market imports in China already taking advantage of the Raptor, it was about time for Ford to offer the off-rad truck. One has to wonder if this is a test to in order to import more trucks into China and get them hooked like Americans.

The Raptor will start sales in China in 2017.
