Ford Begins Shipping F-150 Raptor to China

Ford has announced that it has started shipping the 2017 F-150 Raptor to China, the first time that an F-Series truck manufactured in the U.S. has been exported to the country.

Noted for its off-road capabilities, Ford says that it will supply the Chinese market with the four-door SuperCrew version of the Raptor, equipped with the 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine, 10-speed automatic transmission and its advanced six-mode Terrain Management System.

According to Ford Asia Pacific executive David Schoch, the decision to export the Raptor to China comes in response to the pickup generating “amazing buzz at every auto show we’ve brought it to around China.”

The Raptor is among 12 new Ford Performance vehicles that will be made available in China through 2020, joining the Ford GT, Focus RS, Shelby GT350 and Shelby GT350R.

The timing of this sounds a little politically opportunistic in its own meager way.

Realistically, how many Raptors could Ford possibly sell in China?

Yea this doesn't seem like a vehicle that would be popular there but what do I know.
