Ford Appoints Former Apple & Nike Director as Brand Officer

Ford Motor Company today announced that it has hired Musa Tariq as vice president and chief brand officer, a move that is said to to be part of the automaker’s effort to extend its presence beyond the automotive industry and into the mobility sector.

Set to join Ford on January 30, Tariq previously served as Global Marketing and Communication director for Retail at Apple, senior director of Social Media and Community at Nike and director of Social Media at Burberry.

In this newly-created position, Tariq will report to Stephen Odell, Ford executive vice president, Global Marketing, Sales and Service and to Ray Day, Ford group vice president, Communications.

The Dearborn-based automaker says that Tariq will be responsible for “further building and differentiating the company’s Ford brand.”
