The Ford Taurus may have died here in North America, but an all-new version of the big sedan has been revealed for China thanks to Australia.

Built exclusively in China, this Taurus is all-new, down to the platform. It is based on Ford’s CD4 architecture, which underpins the Ford Fusion and Lincoln Continental sedans. Mind you, the last version of the Taurus here in the states was based on the older CD3 architecture.

Given the new bones, it should comes as little surprise that this Taurus looks different than the deceased version. The design is more streamlined and offers a front end look that is similar to that of the Fusion, down to a brow-looking LED lighting element.

For now it appears the Taurus will offer one powertrain option, which is a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four. In China this engine will offer two different power outputs, with the maximum being 245 horsepower.
