The 2022 Ford Maverick may be one of the most leaked future vehicles of late. Despite all of the leaks, Ford Motor Company has been mum on the Maverick, until now. Ford has finally confirmed plans to reveal its new compact pickup truck on June 8th.
Calling it the “truck you didn’t see coming” Ford has confirmed the Maverick as a segment-creating small truck. In fact, the introduction video (below) even shows us our first official teaser of the Maverick. Showing off the tailgate, which has “Maverick” embossed across the lower portion. This design element aligns with all the spy shots and leaked photos of the Maverick that have surfaced over the last year.
The video also confirms something else about Maverick: it will offer a hybrid powertrain. Notable on the tailgate is Ford’s hybrid badge in the lower left corner. This validates rumors that Maverick may offer the same hybrid powertrain as the Escape Hybrid, given the two vehicles are expected to share their architecture.
Expect all the details on the 2022 Ford Maverick next week. The reveal is slated for 6:00 a.m. EDT and will be streamed online. Previous rumors suggested production of the Maverick is expected to start as soon as next month.
