The beastly 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 now has a price tag. While Ford Motor Company is calling the car a great value, it’s a value that can climb all the way into six-figure territory for its 760 horsepower.
According to Mustang6G the revived GT500 will carry a base price of $73,995, which is including destination charges and a required gas guzzler tax. Factor both of those required fees and the Shelby GT500 is down to $70,300, which Ford cheekily points out that, when divided by horsepower, is actually a better value than a Toyota Corolla.
While the base price may be within reason, buyers will have plenty of opportunities to drive up the price quickly. There’s a Carbon Fiber Track Pack that includes carbon wheels and a massive wing; this package will add $18,500 to the sticker price. There’s also a Handling Package that adds another $1,500, while must-have Recaro seats will increase the the MSRP by another $1,595.
Ford is also giving buyers plenty of opportunities to customize their GT500. There’s various premium paint options that, of course, drive up the price tag.
All told, the 2020 Mustang Shelby GT500 MSRP can climb to territory north of $100,000. While that sounds crazy to think about, this car’s supercharged 5.2-liter V-8 has 760 horsepower. A Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye starts at $73,440 and it offers 797 horsepower.
