Yet again the enthusiasts over at JL Wrangler Forums have leaked more details on the 2018 Jeep Wrangler. This time it appears the website has discovered legitimate order guide details of the JL Wrangler out of Fiat Chrysler’s dealership ordering system. The findings fill in nearly all the holes left with regards to the new icon.
Let’s start with confirmation of the engine options for the JL. As has previously been reported, the leak confirms two gas engines at the onset of JL Wrangler production with FCA’s 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder and the 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 as an option. Subsequently, the order guide confirms FCA’s 3.0-liter turbo-diesel V-6 as an option starting sometime in 2019. All three engines will apparently make do with three transmission options, which include a six-speed manual and two eight-seed automatics.
Engine specifications–such as horsepower levels–are still left for the imagination.
Perhaps one of the more interesting options found on the order guide is the addition of Jeep’s Selec-Trac Full-Time 4WD System. Today’s Wranglers all include a manual transfer case, meaning driver’s have to actually pull on the lever to lock the case into 4WD manually. Selec-Trac means the JL Wrangler will at least offer the luxury option of full-time 4WD, which will drive the rear wheels under normal conditions and engage the front wheels on an as-needed basis.
Some other noteworthy options include a new, black power cloth top and support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Of course there’s a plethora of other information over at the source, down to the exterior color selection for the JL.
What little is left for the imagination will be revealed in November at the Los Angeles Auto Show, if not leaked out before then.
