Jeep Exec: A Hybrid Wrangler Is Possible

By now we all know the all-new Jeep Wrangler is arriving for 2018. While there’s a lot of information about the new Wrangler that’s already trickled out, for the first time we’re hearing a hybrid version is possible.

In speaking with AutoBlog Jeep CEO Mike Manley said, “Electrification, absolutely. I could see Wrangler being a form of electric.”

The new Wrangler is reported to use more aluminum to cut mass and boost efficiency, while its primary powertrain is likely to be a turbocharged four-cylinder. Adding a hybrid to the mix would likely be in an effort to boost the Wrangler’s overall performance, such as instant torque of an electric motor, than solely focus on fuel economy.

Manley did not provide a timeline of when an electrified Wrangler could hit the market.
