Acura has been in the process of revamping its entire product portfolio with a bold new design theme. That process is going to continue with the reveal of an all-new MDX, which the premium brand previewed today with the above teaser shot.

This techno-looking teaser sheds a fair amount of light on what the next MDX will look like. It comes as no surprise that the overall design theme looks very similar to the new TLX sedan design. There’s a prominent pentagonal grille with fairly slender, almost menacing, headlights on either side. The overall appearance looks more dramatic than the smaller RDX, which launched Acura’s design renaissance a few years ago.

Along with the teaser Acura is also confirming plans to reveal the MDX Prototype later this month on Oct. 14th. While Acura is calling it a prototype, the revealed MDX is expected to essentially be the production version of the next MDX. For whatever reason, Acura loves calling its new production vehicles prototypes during the premiere.

The reveal date is the only official piece of information from Acura thus far, but some of the other details are not hard to speculate. It’s expected the new MDX will have a pair of powertrain options, ranging from Acura’s 272 horsepower 2.0-liter turbo and 335 horsepower 3.0-liter V-6. If those sound familiar that’s because the new TLX offers both options as well.
