BMW has issued our first official look at the upcoming 8 Series. The revived nameplate will be affixed to the brand’s flagship coupe offering when it goes on sale later this year.
As expected, the photo appears to confirm that the production 8 Series design will follow that of the 8 Series Concept BMW recently showed. This means a super sleek body with evolved BMW design cues will make up the 8 Series design.
The shot showcases a rear design with broad rear fenders and a sleeker lamp signature that is a nod to other recent BMW designs. The whole car appears wide and athletic; both traits borrowed from the 8 Series of the past.
While the base shape and design of the production car are expected to follow the concept closely, BMW may tone down the concept’s flare up front on the production car. This means the car’s face may be more in-line with other new BMW products, but so far the company has not offered an official look at the front.
BMW is expected to fully reveal the new 8 Series soon, with an on-sale date later in 2018.
