Porsche has offered up its first official look at the upcoming battery-electric Taycan. The sneak peak comes just a month ahead of the Taycam’s slated reveal at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
The photo is certainly more than the typical new car teaser image. This full-on dashboard shot shows off an overall interior design that is similar to other recent Porsche models, albeit slightly cleaner. There’s also a digital instrument cluster and corresponding infotainment display with a pop-up analog clock up top.
Porsche has an underlying logic for releasing this photo and it’s all about what is on the infotainment display. The Taycan will be the first car to offer fully-integrated Apple Music. Taycan buyers will basically be able to stream Apple Music using the car’s own data connection versus their iPhone. Apple says the Taycan will even offer exclusive Porsche playlists.
Buyers will have a six-month trial of Apple Music included with the car. Once the six-month trial is over buyers will have to decide if they wish to pay for the Apple streaming service.
Aside from integrated Apple Music, the Taycan will also be the first battery-electric Porsche model. Porsche has been mum on details surrounding the car’s powertrain, but it recently completed 2,128 mile journey as part of 24-hour endurance test, so Porsche is clearly wanting to make a statement with its electric sedan.
Expect further details on the production Porsche Taycan next month ahead of its slated reveal.
